XX Club 300th Dinner - 13 October 2009

The XX club, Cotton house's dining club, met at the Arts Club in London to celebrate the 300th dinner. We set for fifty and had to rope in an extra table at the last minute as we had some unexpected arrivals.  The team included the current House Master, Matt Williams and two ex-house Masters John Inglis and Robin Barlow.  It was Julian Mant's last dinner after 11 years as secretary.  Dave Orrock is taking over the role.  Two previous secretaries, Graham Bourne and Alistair Garrow, were there to wish him well.  We had diners from as far away as Hong Kong and New Zealand taking the opportunity of being in Europe to catch with old friends and the House news.  After the dinner we retired across the road to the pub.  Most left at closing time but the youngsters went on to sample the London night clubs.  A good night and fitting celebration for the 300th dinner.

The XX Club started in 1903 and with the exception of some of the war years has been holding 3 dinners a year, with a typical turn out of 25.  There are about 100 regulars stretching over the years and any old boys are always most welcome.
